I picked up the first two volumes of Moto Crush ages ago, read about half of the first one, and didn’t mark my spot. So I finally picked it back up (don’t worry, I restarted) and I’m in love. The characters, design, the fashion; it’s all incredible. So let’s get into it.
Dominic Swift is a rookie moto-racer. I’m just over a week, she has her first race. But Dom is different; she has been racing the underground circuit for a minute now, and has a trunk full of won Crush hidden under her bed. Crush is what makes the bikes go faster, but Dom needs it for another reason. She needs it to live.
When her stash is stolen, it’s up to Dom to do whatever she can to get it back, especially before race day. But that doesn’t go quite as planned. So she has to reveal her identity to the Producers behind the underground circuit, and bet on herself to settle a couple of debts. Can Dom do it?
Holy crap was this book good! It comes to us from Brenden Fletcher, Cameron Stewart, and Babs Tarr (you know, the folks who brought new life into Batgirl?), and it’s incredible to see what they can do. The story is unique, the art is mind blowing, and the colors are aesthetic goals. I can’t get over how much I loved this.
I’m also super glad that I have the second volume, because I didn’t have to wait after finishing the first! I’m impatient on a good day, and this was a story that demanded to be continued. I’m glad that I picked this up, and I highly recommend that all of you do the same. It’s gorgeous, you need to check it out.
